Biotin (Vitamin B7)

descriptionWhat It Does

Often called the "beauty vitamin," biotin is essential for healthy skin, a lustrous coat, and strong nails. It supports keratin production — the protein that makes up fur, skin, and claws. Biotin also plays a role in fatty acid synthesis and energy metabolism.

visibilityWhat You’ll Notice

Pets with adequate biotin have a thick, shiny coat and smooth skin. Deficiency causes dull, brittle fur, dry flaky skin, hair loss, and cracked paw pads. Raw egg whites contain avidin, which blocks biotin absorption — feeding raw eggs regularly can cause deficiency. Cooked eggs are safe (and a great biotin source).

restaurantSources & Notes

Liver, cooked eggs, sardines, sweet potatoes. Never feed raw egg whites regularly — avidin in raw whites destroys biotin. Cooked whole eggs are one of the best natural biotin sources for pets.
